Solar-Powered LoRaWAN GPS Asset Tracker for Long-Term Outdoor Tracking
The Dragino TrackerD-LS is an industrial LoRaWAN GPS asset tracker designed for long-term outdoor tracking of vehicles, trailers, containers, construction equipment, agricultural machinery and other valuable mobile assets. Combining GPS positioning, LoRaWAN communication, a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3000 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery and an integrated solar panel, the TrackerD-LS provides reliable real-time asset tracking while minimizing maintenance requirements.
The device determines its position using an integrated GPS receiver and transmits location data over a LoRaWAN network, enabling long-range communication with very low power consumption. When motion is detected, the TrackerD-LS automatically increases its reporting frequency. During periods of inactivity, it enters an ultra-low-power mode to maximize battery life.
One of the key advantages of the TrackerD-LS is its offline data logging capability. If LoRaWAN coverage is temporarily unavailable, the tracker stores GPS positions internally and automatically uploads the recorded data once network connectivity is restored, ensuring no location information is lost.
Powered by a 3000 mAh rechargeable Li-ion battery and an integrated solar panel, the device can operate for extended periods with minimal user intervention, making it ideal for remote installations where regular battery replacement is impractical.
Built around the ESP32 PICO D4 platform with an SX1276/SX1278 LoRa transceiver, the TrackerD-LS is fully open source and compatible with the Arduino IDE, allowing developers to customize firmware for specialized tracking and IoT applications.
