The Watteco BoB Assistant ATEX Zone 1 LoRaWAN is a vibration monitoring sensor designed for predictive maintenance and remote condition monitoring of industrial equipment installed in hazardous environments such as ATEX Zone 1 areas. The device analyzes the vibration signature of industrial equipment and transmits processed data through LoRaWAN® networks, enabling long-range wireless monitoring with very low power consumption.

The sensor is designed for industrial machines such as pumps, motors, compressors, ventilation systems and cooling units and helps detect abnormal behavior before mechanical failure occurs, allowing maintenance teams to intervene early and reduce downtime.

Applications

The BoB Assistant ATEX LoRaWAN sensor is ideal for monitoring industrial equipment such as:

  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Compressors
  • Ventilation systems
  • Cooling units
  • Industrial machinery
  • Oil & gas installations
  • Chemical plants
  • Hazardous industrial environments
  • Predictive maintenance systems
  • Industry 4.0 applications

The sensor is specifically designed for industrial environments where ATEX certified equipment is required.

How It Works

After installation, the sensor performs a learning period of approximately 7 days during which it learns the vibration behavior of the monitored machine and creates a baseline vibration profile. After this learning phase, the device continuously compares new vibration measurements with the baseline and detects vibration drift or abnormal operation.

If the vibration drift threshold is exceeded or if machine start/stop events are detected, the sensor immediately sends an alert via the LoRaWAN network. This allows maintenance teams to intervene before equipment failure occurs and prevents unexpected downtime.

Reports and Data Transmission

The BoB Assistant periodically transmits reports over the LoRaWAN network every 180 minutes. These reports include:

  • Machine operating time
  • Vibration drift rate
  • Temperature
  • Battery level
  • Predictive failure probability

Machine status alerts such as start/stop events can also be transmitted and can be configured via downlink commands.

Installation

Installation and commissioning are quick and easy. The sensor can be installed on equipment using the integrated magnets, screws, rivets or adhesive mounting depending on the installation environment. The device includes a push button for activation and an RGB LED for configuration and network pairing.

Each sensor is identified by a QR code on the device label for easy identification and network provisioning.

Battery and Autonomy

The device is powered by a replaceable lithium battery and offers more than 3 years of battery life depending on configuration and transmission frequency. Machine vibration knowledge is stored in internal memory and automatically restored when the device is restarted or when the battery is replaced.

Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0

The BoB Assistant ATEX Zone 1 is designed for Industrial IoT applications and predictive maintenance systems. It enables remote monitoring of industrial equipment, reduces maintenance costs, prevents unexpected failures and improves operational efficiency in industrial installations and hazardous environments.
