The Dragino WSS-23 is a professional RS485 air quality sensor designed for simultaneous measurement of carbon dioxide (CO₂), fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and particulate matter (PM10) in weather stations, agricultural facilities, industrial environments and environmental monitoring systems.
By combining three important air quality parameters in one device, the WSS-23 enables comprehensive monitoring of local environmental conditions and supports data-driven decisions for environmental management.
The sensor uses NDIR (Non-Dispersive Infrared) technology for CO₂ measurement, with internal temperature compensation, and laser scattering technology for PM2.5 and PM10 particle detection.
Its RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol allows integration with compatible industrial controllers, data loggers and weather station monitoring systems.
For LoRaWAN wireless communication, the WSS-23 can be connected to a compatible controller such as the Dragino WSC2-L Weather Station Controller, which collects the measurements and transmits them over a LoRaWAN network.
The WSS-23 supports a CO₂ measurement range of 0–5,000 ppm and PM2.5/PM10 measurement ranges of 0–1,000 µg/m³, according to the published product specifications.
Its weather-resistant design makes it suitable for outdoor environmental monitoring installations, subject to correct installation and the operating limits of the individual measurement modules.
The sensor operates from a 7–24V DC power supply and provides wired communication for continuous integration with compatible monitoring equipment.
The Dragino WSS-23 is an effective solution for smart city air quality networks, environmental research, smart agriculture, industrial air monitoring and connected weather stations.
Important: The WSS-23 is an RS485/Modbus RTU sensor, not a standalone LoRaWAN device. LoRaWAN transmission requires a compatible external controller, and the gateway and IoT monitoring platform are separate components. The operating temperature and humidity limits differ between the CO₂ and particulate matter measurement modules.
